CHANTAL BARNES

Chantal Barnes was born in York and has spent time living in Tasmania, Wales and London. After graduating with a First Class Honours degree in Fine Art, she established a successful career as a television producer in London. She returned to painting professionally in 2020 however, and since then her work has received prizes in national competitions, been featured in British Vogue and hangs in private collections around the world.

Chantal's paintings are responses to her experiences of the world – past and present, places and emotions, imagined and observed. The work explores themes of nature and femininity within the repeatedly soaked and stained surfaces. Through abstraction the paintings seek to push what is an entanglement of deeply personal feelings and memories into something that connects universally.
